Lotion Bars: Skincare in Seconds

The Return of Dry Skin

The cool, crisp mornings are here.  Football is on TV. Homemade soups are on the stove top and that comfy fall sweater is finally coming out of its hiding place. As all of our fall favorites return, a few unwelcome guests make their comeback too.  I’m speaking about the dreadful return of dry and irritated skin.

The warm summer days that brought relief through high moisture content in the air are now a distant memory.  During the summer months, missing a day or two of moisturizing may be just fine. But in the drier months, it can physically hurt.

When Life Gets Busy, Skin Care Suffers

Who has time for anything anymore?  The time it takes to put lotion on the body after a shower can even be too much. “I’ll skip it tonight”, I would think to myself. “Tomorrow.”   The next day would result in dry, itchy skin.  Uncomfortable and irritated, I’d be full of regret that I didn’t take the time to moisturize.  I’d promise myself that I would never neglect the largest organ of my body again.  We all know this cycle.

If being neglectful of moisturizing the skin resonates with you, along with the empty promises made to oneself, fear not! I have the remedy.

Lotion Bars: The Game Changer

Drum roll please.  Introducing lotion bars. These skin soothing beauties are for those who are short on time with the desire to care for their skin.   The lotion bar comes in a compact 2.5-ounce oval shape that fits comfortably into the palm of the hand.  No applicator needed, no excess waste, they are both eco-friendly and bio-friendly!

Ingredients & Their Benefits

An array of different ingredients can make for great lotion bars. Formulators alike will choose different types of butters and oils for their skin soothing properties. Below I highlight the ingredients that I use in my lotion bars and their individual benefits for the skin.

  • Mango Butter: moisturizing & hydrating rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, C and E, great for softening and soothing the skin.
  • Cupuacu Butter: great moisturizing butter, leading to deep and long lasting hydration, excellent emollient restoring elasticity to skin.
  • Grapeseed Oil: rich in antioxidants, vitamin E and fatty acids (omega -6), all while remaining a light weight, non-greasy oil. It is non-comedogenic and does not clog pores.
  • Beeswax: serves as an occlusive barrier. Locks in moisture from the butters and oils, preventing trans-epidermal water loss from the skin.
  • Calendula Oil: soothes irritated skin, has antioxidant properties, and contains flavonoids used for their wound healing properties.
  • Vitamin E: fat soluble antioxidant, helps in neutralizing free radicals.

How to Use a Lotion Bar

After showering, with the excess water dried off from the skin, the lotion bar is then applied.  First and foremost, warm the lotion bar between the hands for a few seconds to soften it.  Once this is done, it will glide perfectly over the skin covering large surface areas in seconds!  The lotion bar is made purely of seed butter and oils, providing long-lasting relief to the driest of skin.   The lotion bar saves time and is perfect for travel.

Skincare Made Simple

Since using lotion bars, it has become easier and more convenient to moisturize the skin.  Take it from a mom of three little boys, I have zero time for waste.  This lotion bar has been my go-to after every shower.  It’s a quick swipe of the arms, legs, torso, back and go.  My type of product. Consider the lotion bar the next best companion in life.  The sidekick to your daily skincare routine.

In a life full of hassle, the skincare routine chosen should be simple and effective.  Lotion bars are the new craze, and now I understand why.  Whether traveling or staying home, using a lotion bar makes the morning and nighttime routine much more enjoyable.  Give a lotion bar a try, and there will be no turning back.
